What to keep in mind when filming in Timanfaya National Park?

Professional activities related to photography, cinematography, television, video, etc., within the Timanfaya National Park are generally prohibited.
Only those activities expressly aimed at promoting the park’s natural and cultural values, as well as those necessary for the management of the national park and its facilities, are permitted.

Within the national park, advertising by any means and audiovisual activities with advertising purposes are prohibited, except for those carried out by the managing authorities of the park and its facilities for the express promotion of the park’s image.

If the professional audiovisual activity complies with the permitted and authorizable uses and activities within the National Park, as defined in the following documents: the National Parks Act ,the National Parks Master Plan , the Timanfaya National Park Use and Management Plan, as well as in the complementary regional legislation, the application process must be submitted at least one month in advance through the electronic office of the Government of the Canary Islands.

It is very important to include the following documentation:

  • If the work is commissioned by a production company: a document proving the contractual relationship between the commissioning entity and the production company carrying out the work.

  • The shooting plan.


Use of UAS (Drones)

Drone flight activities within the Timanfaya National Park are generally prohibited.
They are only allowed for management, research, or emergency purposes, and only in certain areas and at specific times of the year.
