Description and synopsis

“Are you happy?” With this eternal question as a hook, a group of young people who are very active on social networks are encouraged to attend a very exclusive party organised by a well-known drinks brand on a remote island paradise. However, they will soon discover that the invitation hides great dangers and challenges. This is the plot surrounding Welcome to Eden, a Netflix series that has filmed episodes for its two seasons in Lanzarote.

Martí Marcos, head of locations for the production, explained to the media why Lanzarote was perfect for the series: “First of all, the island of our story is an island paradise. Secondly, the plot features a mysterious island, on which all the characters will end up feeling trapped. Lanzarote fulfils these two ideas: it is both an earthly paradise, but it’s also very Martian, arid, with its volcanoes and its black earth beaches. A very lunar landscape.”

From the scenes filmed on the island, we highlight two very striking beaches which offer great cinematographic conditions, but which have been less used historically in productions that have passed through Lanzarote. Firstly, Caletón Blanco, a unique flat area on the north-east coast of the island formed by areas of white sand that contrast with the black lava of the surrounding area. The variety of this landscape also depends on the tides: at low tide there are large pools and lagoons, while at full tide the turquoise waters dominate the landscape. The other beach is Montaña Bermeja, an atmospheric cove marked by the dark lava and black sand.
