Description and synopsis
Four-time Oscar-nominated English director Peter Yates directed this science fiction film set on the planet Krull, which is attacked by a fearsome monster and his army of aliens in order to abduct its princess. To her rescue comes her betrothed prince and a motley crew of warriors will go on to have numerous adventures in their attempts to free the planet and the princess from the threat. The film, which features a young Liam Neeson in the lead role, did not do as well at the box office as expected at the time, but has since become a cult film among some sectors of science fiction film fans.
The volcanic landscapes left by the eruptions of Timanfaya in the 18th century was the location chosen by this production by the US studio Columbia Pictures as the backdrop to the fantasy plot set on exotic planets. The Timanfaya National Park, constituted in 1974 and covering more than 5,000 hectares, is usually among the three most visited parks in Spain in the annual ranking, thanks to its unique geological and volcanic characteristics. Visitors find in the “Fire Mountains”, spectacular panoramic views full of telluric energy that make them feel as if they were on a distant planet.
