Description and synopsis
One of the advantages of filming in Lanzarote is that in a very short time it is possible to film in very different locations depending on which island of the Canary Island archipelago is chosen. The archipelago, made up of eight populated islands and several other important islets, offers volcanic, coastal or arid landscapes such as those already abundant on Lanzarote, but also high mountainous territories, extensive forests or large cities, such as those to be seen on the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife or La Palma.
In this case, the film Eternals was shot between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, two islands that are separated by a distance that can be covered in just 25 minutes by ferry. The curiosity aspect of Lanzarote in this film is that it recreates the eruption of the Cuervo volcano, a spectacular crater that is believed to have been the first of the volcanoes to explode during the historic Timanfaya series of the 18th century. Filming on several islands is commonplace in productions that come to the Canary Islands, as was the case with the latest version of Clash of the Titans (2010), which has scenes on Tenerife and Lanzarote, two islands that also coincided in the classic One Million Years B.C. (1965).
Eternals is a clear example of a super production, grossing over 400 million dollars at the box office and featuring big stars such as Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek. The film tells the story of the struggles between the Celestials and the Deviants, mythological beings with antagonistic desires towards humanity. This is action and science fiction in service to a movie from the great superhero film factory: Marvel Studios.
